Rodr'ee Carlile

My name is Rodree Carlile and I am honored to be your Head of School here at Highlands Elementary School. With 13+ years of experience in education, it is a pleasure to serve our learning community and contribute to a successful year in every way I can. Prior to becoming HES's Head of School, I served as Principal at Kings Manor Elementary, Assistant Principal at Keefer Crossing Middle School, and Student Support Program Supervisor for Special Education. I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor's in Agriculture Business and a minor in Secondary Education. I received my Master’s of Education in Administration from Texas A&M - Commerce.

Every family in our school is very important as we create a school community that will prepare children to thrive in a global society and prepare them for the REALITY of tomorrow. Highlands Elementary School provides a safe, nurturing, and child-centered environment in which our students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our students are focused on always doing their personal best. All staff members are dedicated and committed to the success of every student that walks through HES's doors each morning.

I am honored to be a Highlands Elementary Owl and look forward to working with all students and families as they continue their journey at NCISD.

Deputy Head of School

Sydney White

Sydney White

My name is Sydney White, and I am excited to serve as the Deputy Head of School here at Highlands Elementary! With over 12 years of experience in education, I am thrilled to partner with our staff, families, and students as we continue building a community where curiosity is encouraged, leadership is nurtured, and learning is celebrated.

For the past four years, I have served as an Assistant Principal, and prior to that, I had the privilege of supporting student learning and teacher development in a variety of instructional and leadership roles. Each step on my journey has reinforced my belief that when students feel valued, challenged, and supported, they thrive.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Leadership and Development from Texas A&M University and my Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University. I am passionate about lifelong learning, so being part of an IB Candidacy School is especially meaningful. The International Baccalaureate framework encourages students to think deeply, take action, and view themselves as global citizens all qualities we are proud to foster at Highlands.

Highlands Elementary is a special place! Our teachers are dedicated to creating engaging, hands-on learning experiences that allow students to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We are building confident open-minded learners who understand their impact on the world.

Let’s soar, Owls!

Coordinator of IB

Blythe Brown

Blythe Brown

My name is Blythe Brown and I am honored to serve as the Coordinator of the Primary Years Programme at Highlands Elementary School. I bring twenty five years of experience in education, with a background that includes instructional coaching in mathematics and science, STEM leadership, curriculum development, and professional learning for districts across the state. My work has centered on building strong instructional practices that elevate student thinking, support teacher growth, and create engaging, inquiry driven learning environments.

Prior to joining Highlands, I partnered with campuses and districts to design curriculum, strengthen differentiation, and support teachers in implementing inquiry based instruction. These experiences shaped my belief in the power of student agency, thoughtful planning, and collaborative professional culture.

Serving at an IB Candidacy School allows me to support systems of learning that encourage curiosity, deepen understanding, and connect classroom experiences to the world beyond school. I am committed to working with our staff to build a strong and sustainable Primary Years Programme that helps every student grow as a thinker, communicator, and global minded learner.
