At the NCISD Board of Trustees meeting on October 20, 2025, students and staff members from Highlands Elementary School were recognized for their outstanding service. 

The Head of School for Highlands Elementary School, Rodr'ee Carlile, and the board of trustees recognized Tambria Shaw (Outstanding Teacher), Ana Vazquez (Outstanding Paraprofessional), Hilda Snow (Outstanding Custodian), Annette Reyna (Outstanding Child Nutrition Employee), and Iain Dacus-Cearley (Outstanding Student).
